REACH Legislation
REACH is a new European Union regulation concerning the:
Registration
Evaluation
Authorisation and restriction of
CHemicals.
It came into force on 1 June 2007 and replaces a number of European Directives and Regulations with a single system.
A major part of REACH is the requirement for manufacturers or importers of substances to register them with a central European Chemicals Agency (ECHA)
BOC’s position
BOC is fully aware of REACH and the timetable for pre-registration and registration of substances.
The Regulation itself is complex and will have a significant impact on all manufacturers, importers and downstream users of substances within the European Union (EU). It will, for instance, increase the information flow about substances between all participants in the supply chain.
We are committed to meeting our legal obligations under REACH, as a manufacturer, importer and downstream user. We have pre-registered a number of substances.
For information on pre registered substance and uses supported visit the Linde websiteCertain substances manufactured by BOC are exempt from the obligation to register under REACH due to the low risk they present. These include:
- carbon dioxide
- nitrogen
- hydrogen
- oxygen
- argon
- helium
- neon
- xenon
