CIRRUS® – Vapour Emission Control
Meeting the requirements of environmental legislation is an important issue to consider in exhaust gas purification or recovery of valuable volatile organic compounds (VOC).
CIRRUS® VEC
Cryogenic condensation with liquid nitrogen (LIN) is a flexible, cost-effective process which can be used in a wide range of applications.
At BOC we are focusing on the following features:
- treatment of highly concentrated exhaust gas flows
- recovery of valuable components
- realisation of low residual concentrations
- reuse of vaporised LIN as inert gas for inerting and blanketing
The basic function of a CIRRUS® Vapour Emission Control (VEC) module is to cool process gas to condense vapours of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
The clean gas can be released to the atmosphere, while the condensate is drained from the condenser.
CIRRUS® VEC is a modular, flexible, compact and efficient air-treatment solution. It comes in three different sizes (handling flow rates up to 1000 Nm³/h) to ensure a perfect solution to your requirements.
Flexible design
CIRRUS® VEC modules are suited to both batch and continuous processing applications. They support intermittent operation and varying flow rates.
A broad operating range also allows greater flexibility to adapt quickly to changing plant conditions.
Emission levels can be reduced by lowering the condensation temperature set-point.
The CIRRUS® VEC system can be easily expanded by simply adding a new module. A broad range of optional extras enables you to tailor each module to your exact requirements.
Examples of CIRRUS® VEC options
- condensate tanks for removing condensed volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
- adsorption beds to further reduce emission levels
- bypass system to handle peak conditions and enhance safety
- outlet process-gas valves and inlet liquid nitrogen (LIN) valves for continuous operation of multiple units
- to ensure fast commissioning, each CIRRUS® VEC module features its own control system and is delivered pre-assembled and pre-tested. The units comply with all relevant EU directives (including PED 97/23/EC, ATEX 94/9/EEC, LVD 73/23/EEG and EMC 89/336/EEG)
Benefits
- safe and environmentally sound. Inert nitrogen does not come in contact with the VOCs. Process nitrogen can therefore be used for other processes
- CFC-free. No secondary pollution in the form of NOX, acids, gases and dioxins
- a cost-effective solution. Nitrogen recycling and chemical recovery are extremely efficient and therefore reduce operational costs of the process
- reliable technology. Fully automatic control system operated using an easy-to-use interface panel
- an ideal solution. CIRRUS® systems are best suited to processes in which the vapour content in the gas to be cleaned is higher than 40g/Nm3 and where process gas flow is less than 1000Nm3/hour. The freezing point of the substrate should be below 30oC
Our capabilities
The modular CIRRUS® product range provides all our customers with an optimum solution for varying conditions. The module can be installed separately, or combined in systems to adapt to your needs.
We can arrange for site trials to be carried out which give you the opportunity to see that the CIRRUS® system is the right solution for you.
The CIRRUS® modules can be operated for either batch or continuous processing and are suited to intermittent operation with varying flow rates.
We can offer the option of outright purchase of the CIRRUS® module or the option of rental if this satisfies your requirements.
