CUMULUS® - Fluid Temperature Control System

The production of special chemicals and active ingredients for the pharmaceutical industry has led to an increasing demand for synthesis, crystallisation and other unit operations, at very low temperatures.


Liquid nitrogen coolant

With the use of liquid nitrogen (LIN) as a coolant, fluid streams can be chilled to extreme temperatures. 

Our cryogenic fluid cooling systems are extremely reliable and will efficiently chill a process fluid to a temperature as low as -120 °C.

These units are used for temperature-controlled process management of a heat transfer fluid circuit.

The CUMULUS® Fluid Temperature Control (FTC) system is a patented concept for cooling process fluids without the risk of freezing.  The CUMULUS FTC is a highly effective process which ensures an unprecedented level of accuracy (within 1°C), bringing new levels of predictability to temperature control, even at -120°C.

The CUMULUS® FTC system is available in four standard sizes, covering cooling requirements ranging from lab/pilot operation to full-scale production.

With its low initial outlay and operating costs, the CUMULUS® FTC technology is an excellent investment.  Operating costs can be further reduced by reusing pure gaseous nitrogen (GAN).

Built around standard units, CUMULUS® FTC can be installed at short notice. There is also a rental option for onsite testing and evaluation.

The system's exceptionally compact design ensures a small physical footprint, enabling units to be positioned in existing facilities and moved around to meet cooling requirements in different locations.

A CUMULUS® PX100 with the cooling capacity of 100kW.

The only moving part of the CUMULUS® FTC is the control valve.  This ensures superior reliability and reduces maintenance to a minimum.  A high level of automatic control means precision cooling without supervision.
 
The units comply with all relevant EU directives (including PED 97/23/EC, ATEX 94/9/EEC, LVD 73/23/EEG and EMC 89/336/EEG).
