CRYOLINE® CS Compact Self-Stacking Spiral Freezer
The CRYOLINE® CS is the name for a new generation of compact, high-capacity spiral freezers.
This first cryogenic self-stacking spiral freezer range is built with the smallest footprint possible and is based on a new technology to make a more efficient and cost-effective freezer.
The 8-sided form minimises the space around the belt, thus achieving the highest possible cold gas speed.
The nitrogen supply and gas balance are controlled by a state-of-the-art automatic system. This means less idle consumption compared to existing spiral freezers.
Application and use
The CRYOLINE® CS is suitable for freezing a wide range of products including:
- meat patties
- whole fish or fish fillets
- pies
- ice cream
- pastries
- pizza
- ready-made dishes
The spiral can also be used as a cooling unit.
The very low operating temperatures are achieved by using liquid nitrogen. This ensures rapid freezing to preserve the quality and the shape of the product and keep the weight loss to a minimum.
Cryogenic freezing is normally most economical at low to medium volumes but this spiral is also suitable for high volumes or when high quality is needed.
Safety and hygiene
This system offers a high level of hygiene and safety combined with low consumption and easy operation.
The use of spray nozzles for detergent and rinsing water, together with the high performance of the circulation fan, ensure that both the belt and the whole interior of the freezer are completely cleaned and dried.
After cleaning, the freezer can be opened for inspection by opening all doors, allowing full access to all parts of the freezing section. This, together with the all-stainless steel design, ensures that the freezer satisfies the highest hygiene demands in the food industry.
The spiral acts as a heat exchanger in which the liquid nitrogen is sprayed directly on the product, thus efficiently extracting heat from it. The generated cold gas is circulated around the products and then extracted by the exhaust system.
The exhaust system in the CRYOLINE® CS is adjustable, which means that the gas can be fully utilised before leaving the spiral. This guarantees a very low gas consumption and low running cost.
In the spiral design, the working environment has been given the utmost importance. It has been secured by choosing a low noise fan and by carefully insulating all points through which contact to the very cold nitrogen could occur.
The spiral is easy to operate by means of automatic control devices. It can be cooled down and ready for operation in less than 20 minutes.
Benefits
- stainless steel mesh belt
- drive motor with variable speed control
- various in-feed sections for different feeding systems
- liquid nitrogen supply system with spray manifold, frequency-controlled circulation fan and exhaust fan
- pneumatically-sealed doors
- side-mounted control panel with automatic gas supply controller and temperature readout
- stainless steel sandwich panels with CFC-free insulation
- emergency shutdown switches and alarm warning
- stand with adjustable feet
The freezer doors are equipped with pneumatic seals in order to prevent nitrogen from escaping from the freezer enclosure.
When all the freezer doors are closed and the switch 'Seals On' is activated, the seals inflate and seal the doors. During this time the doors cannot be opened.
When the switch is deactivated, the seals are slowly deflated and the doors can be opened again.
Normal operation for freezing or cooling
In 'Normal Mode', the freezer doors need to be shut in order to:
- activate the pneumatic sealing system
- start the belt
- activate the liquid nitrogen injection system and start the fans
If a freezer door is opened when in operation, an alarm sounds and the freezer is shut down.
If the supply pressure to the doors drops, the nitrogen injection system shuts off and the alarm sounds.
Cleaning mode
In 'Cleaning Mode', the central fan and the belt can be active with the doors opened.
Specialist expertise
The compact spiral can be viewed and tested at the Food Technology Centre (FTC) at Thame in Oxfordshire.
At the FTC 'try before buy' trials can be arranged, at no obligation, to test and simulate production processes to a high level of accuracy, ensuring the best fit of application technology to your needs.
