Refineries
Most refineries are primarily used for the processing of crude oil into motor and heating fuels. Secondary to this is the production of gaseous fuels, synthesis gases, petrochemicals and feeds for lubricants production and asphalt.
It is well recognised that the widespread use of fossil fuels has an extremely damaging effect on our environment. With this in mind, one of the main challenges the refinery industry faces is to achieve compliance with increasingly more severe environmental protection laws which require cleaner production, cleaner products and fewer emissions, with the increasing pressure of operating at optimum efficiency.
Industrial gases play a vital role in meeting these requirements, for example; adding oxygen to the air in the Claus process results in a number of benefits such as increased plant capacity, greater flexibility and improved conversion of ammonia.
Applications we support:
- Carbon capture and storage
- Sulphur recovery
