Coal Power Generation
Although being the most convenient source of power generation financially, coal can also be the most environmentally polluting.
The increasingly tightening EU regulations regarding CO2 emissions have made coal a prohibitive source for new capacity unless it is combined with technologies which significantly reduce its polluting impact.
Existing power stations generating >50MW that opted out of the Large Combustion Plant Directive must close by the end of 2015 or 20,000 hours of operation. The power stations that opted in should install Selective Catalyst Reaction (SCR) units to comply with NOx reduction limits by 2016.
BOC is very close to the sector, understands the challenges, and it is prepared to provide technology and solutions which will help power companies to comply with emissions targets and engineering companies to achieve project completion.
