Foodfresh Nitrogen (N2)
Features

- odourless and colourless
- non-toxic
- does not support combustion
- an asphyxiant (does not support life)
-
inert, dry and slightly soluble
Benefits
Nitrogen gas is only slightly soluble in a wide range of liquids and is therefore used to flush unwanted gases from solutions.
Application and use
- use in combination with carbon dioxide in Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) applications to prevent pack collapse
- vegetable oils, animal fats where oxidation causes rancidity
- process water, where dissolved oxygen causes unwanted product characteristics
- milk products, where oxidation produces unacceptable odour and flavours
- syrup tanks in soft drink factories for reducing in-can oxygen levels
- fresh fruit juice to increase shelf life
- pressure transfer of liquids
Please note:
To displace oxygen where aerobic spoilage mechanisms dominate and oxidative rancidity may be a problem.
