Purge Assemblies
The importance of purging
When choosing a regulator system for handling highly toxic, corrosive or high purity gases, the importance of purging should not be forgotten, By using the correct purging equipment and procedures one can prevent the possibility of accidental exposure to toxic gas or ensure that equipment is not subjected to corrosive atmospheres. In addition, proper purge procedures will enable gas purity to be maintained, from the cylinder to the point of use, with no degradation or decomposition.
Two methods are commonly used in purging pressure regulators and associated equipment: diffusion purging and dilution purging.
- Purging flushes unwanted gas from the system by a continious flow of purge gas, usually from one end to the other, using a body or tee purge
