How do I open an account with BOC?

To open a new account with BOC you will need to complete an account application form.

What is the difference between the types of cylinder rental?

BOC has a rental charge for all cylinders. Unless otherwise requested, all new cylinders taken will default to annual rental. 

There are four rental period options: 

Monthly - charged in arrears for the previous month. If you pay monthly rental charges and increase your holdings, you will be charged a full months rental for the extra cylinders at the end of the month in which you obtained them. 

Quarterly - payable in advance.

Annual - charged once a year in advance. If you pay annual rental charges and increase your holdings before renewal, you will be charged rental for the additional cylinders from the date of first rental until the renewal date of the existing cylinder rental. For example, if your renewal date is 1st January, and you add an extra cylinder in the previous June, you will be charged 7 months rental on the additional cylinder. On 1st January you will be charged 12 months rental for all cylinders. If your holdings decrease, you will receive a credit note for the number of months left on your rental. 3 or 5 yearly - available for small cylinders only and suitable for customers with stable holdings - No pro rata credit is available should the cylinders be returned before the renewal date. 

The renewal date is always the first of the month in which you first obtained the cylinder.

Why do I need to pay rental on cylinders?

Rental charges cover the maintenance and replenishment of our cylinder stocks, helping us to ensure you are supplied with cylinders that are safe, reliable and fit for the purpose of containing gas. We test our cylinders regularly and replace those that have reached the end of serviceable life with new stock, and we continue to invest in development of different cylinder types to meet your supply needs.

How do I read my invoice?

The layout is as follows:

- top left shows name and contact details
- top right gives invoice number and the type of invoice - i.e. an invoice, credit note or facility charge
- main invoice indicates sales, rental and VAT charges

Sales heading

Under this heading you will see the following:

- advice note stating the date and branch of supply and the delivery number
- purchase number and/or the name of the person placing the order
- your location, account number and address for where the items were delivered
- list of products purchased
- fixed charge.  Either a delivery charge or a transaction charge if the cylinder is collected at a retail outlet
- total charge for sales

Rental heading

Under this heading you will see the following:

- your account number and address for where the cylinders are held
- type of gas, cylinder size and number of cylinders rented
- charge/months
- total charge for rental
- bottom left.  Overall total

Why is an invoice fee (non-direct debit fee) being allocated to my order?

Invoice fees are applied to all orders placed on your BOC account and you have not opted to pay by direct debit

Will I receive an invoice for credit/debit card orders?

You will receive an order confirmation email that will serve as a receipt for your payment. You will be able to see via the My Account link that the invoice has been paid in full.


I have returned my cylinders, why am I still being charged?

BOC's minimum cylinder rental period is one month. This means part month rentals will be charged as a full month. For example, a cylinder returned during May will be subject to a rental charge for the full month of May.

If you have returned cylinders but are being charged for them beyond the month of return, you should contact us on 1890 355 255. 

We will need to confirm that the cylinders were returned to the same account number to which they were supplied. 

If this is not the case we will need to amend our records. Please have your returns note number ready when you call our Customer Service centre to amend your records.

What are my payment terms?

BOC's general Terms and Conditions detail the standard payment terms.

How do I arrange to pay for my orders by invoice?
Monthly, weekly and transactional invoicing can be offered to customers. Bespoke and customised invoices are available to select customers although restrictions apply. Contact customer services via Live Chat or on 0800 111 333 who will make arrangements or alternatively go to your local store and complete the forms there.
What happens if I do not pay my bills on time?

If you do not pay your bills on time this may affect your ability to order/receive products from us. 

We ask that if you are unable to pay for any reason you contact our Customer Service team on 1890 355 255 to discuss the matter.

How can I set up a Direct Debit?

Please call our customer services team on 1890 355 255 who will be happy to help.


Which payment cards do you accept?

We accept payments by credit and debit card through Visa, Mastercard and American Express. There are no service fees on credit card payments.



When will payment be taken on my credit/debit card?

Please allow up to 72 hours from the order being placed for the issuing bank to process the transaction.


My payment card has been declined, what should I do?

Check your details are entered correctly. If the card is still declined contact your bank to ensure there are sufficient funds available.
