Energy efficiency of windows depends on the:
Frame design and material
Double or triple glazing
Cavity filling gas.
With new replacement window legislation requiring the lowering of centre pane ‘U’ values, cavity filling window gases can greatly improve the energy efficiency of windows.
Low Thermal Conductivity
The thermal conductivities of the double glazing gases Argon, Krypton and Xenon are much lower than air, meaning they are efficient insulators and thus they are both ideal for keeping U-values low in sealed double and triple glazed units, either in combination with each other or with air.
As these are inert gases with low conductivity, they can also be used to up-rate the thermal performance of sealed units without adversely reacting with the high tech desiccants and sealants used in today's state-of-the-art glazing units.
Bespoke window applications requiring a higher WER rating may require Window Grade Krypton or Xenon gases and these can be sourced in cylinders either as pure gases or as gas mixtures. For more information about window grade krypton and to discuss your requirements, please call 1890 355 255.
