If gases are used in confined spaces, monitoring equipment should be installed as a matter of course. BOC can supply and install a range of battery and mains powered oxygen and carbon dioxide monitors, alarms and emergency response equipment ensuring the area where gases are used is constantly monitored.
Ensuring that all potential hazards and dangers are recognised and mitigated is key to creating a safe working environment.
Cryogenic gases may produce an immediately hazardous environment through the displacement or enrichment of oxygen levels. Oxygen deficiency can result in an asphyxiation risk, while enrichment can dramatically increase the risk of fire.
Where there is the potential for carbon dioxide levels to be above the agreed exposure limits, protection should be provided against sudden or gradual toxicity.
To help mitigate these risks, we offer a wide range of oxygen deficiency and enrichment monitors, carbon dioxide monitors and a range of repeater units that can be attached to monitors to provide additional warnings of an unsafe atmosphere.
Oxygen monitors help to ensure a working environment is safe. They monitor the oxygen levels in the environment; too little oxygen (oxygen deficiency) there is a danger of asphyxiation or too much oxygen (oxygen enrichment), and there is a danger of severe fires. If a level becomes dangerous, the monitors will emit audible and visual alarms to alert personnel.
A repeater unit does not monitor the oxygen levels, but mimics the alarm on the oxygen monitor. Install a repeater unit outside the room to warn against entry.
Depending on the size of the room and the amount and type of cryogenic liquid stored, BOC has a range of oxygen deficiency and enrichment monitors and repeaters to fit most requirements.
